Vision & Mission
By investigating the fundamental principles of nature, human beings, and the social world, students in the Department of Philosophy cultivate the creativity and rationality needed to become future leaders of society and to lead autonomous lives as decent human beings. They explore problems and propose answers in various branches of philosophy, including epistemology, ethics, and ontology.
Since its establishment in 1946, the Department of Philosophy at Korea University has produced excellent researchers in philosophy, and led the philosophical discourses in the nation. Its strong faculty, consisting of professors in a variety of fields, offers a comprehensive curriculum to learn both Eastern and Western philosophies.
